The Village underwent its second construction bidding process in January after the first one in 2025 resulted in exorbitantly high construction costs. The bidding period closed on Tuesday, January 27th and the Village received a favorable low bid from C.W. Purpero in an amount of $6,326,305. For perspective, the low bid from 2025 was $7,685,077, which represents a $1,358,772 cost differential.
This is a huge milestone reached for this project; however, there is significant work ahead before shovels hit the ground. Next steps include executing a construction contract, finalizing plans, and resolving the ongoing litigation with CP Rail (Soo Line) regarding the abandoned parcel within the project area.
