Invasive Species Task Force

Your weekly prescription for ideal health:  at least one hour of nature.

Cost:  FREE!

When:  tomorrow at 11am

Tomorrow we will perfect the Blue Star Memorial (that darned bindweed!?!) and then peruse the 1.8 acres of Veteran’s Park to pull any of the following invasive species we’ve been battling all summer:

  • Queen Anne’s Lace
  • Canada thistle
  • White sweetclover
  • Bindweed
  • Butter and eggs
  • Purple Loosestrife
  • Buckthorn seedlings
  • Siberian elm seedlings
  • Mulberry seedlings

Other, not invasive but undesired:

  • Common ragweed
  • Giant ragweed
  • Boxelder seedlings
  • Ash seedlings

Anyone who wants to bring a dandelion digger and work on getting weeds out from under the 5 crabapple trees (planted for each of the 5 branches of military) along Legion is welcome to do so:)

Come enjoy the blooming goldenrod and asters!

This group meets just once per week for only one hour to work within public spaces in the village.  If you need volunteer hours, want to meet new people, or are just interested in joining an amazing group of people for 60 minutes—send your information to us at Beautification@elmgrovewi.org in order to be included on the weekly email letting you know where we will be meeting.
